About Target Hope
The Target Hope College Preparatory Academy is a college prep program like no other. Designed for high school students in their sophomore or junior year; Target Hope offers an opportunity of a lifetime.
That opportunity is the chance for high school students who are on the path to
matriculation into a 4 year college or university to be given supplemental enhancement
classes in addition to their traditional Monday through Friday curriculum.
The classes offered are:
Geometry, Algebra-Trig, Pre-Calculus, English, Communication,
African-American History, as well as Leadership Development Workshops
such as Male Responsibility and How to Deal with Drug and Alcohol Abuse.
These courses are offered every Saturday at the DePaul University Lewis Center
at 25 East Jackson on the 10th floor.
Requirements for the program include a half page essay from interested students with a minimum 2.5 GPA on why they would like to be part of the program as well as a $25 registration fee.
Since 1998, Target Hope has enrolled 2,850 students in 26 colleges and
universities across the nation. Students have received $65.0 million dollars
in merit-based scholarships. Additionally, 98% of Target Hope students
graduate from college within five years. Furthermore, 47% of college
graduates enroll in Graduate and Professional Schools. In 2004, we
purchased a customized Coach for college travel at a cost of $425,000.00
College students and alumni will be present on August 15, 2007 to answer
questions about the college tour and the opportunities afforded them by
Target Hope.
This represents an excellent opportunity for suburban school participants to
attend. You may need to miss a few days of school in order to attend.
However, most high school counselors realize the importance of college
tours and will accept letters from parents authorizing absences for
educational purposes.
Target Hope has partnerships with consortium colleges across the nation.
Additional colleges we partner with are Xavier University, Dillard
University, DePaul University, Chicago State University, Florida A & M
University, Northwestern University, University of Michigan and
Morehouse School of Medicine.
